Venus/David Partikel-Splitter Shop edition

Botticelli’s Venus and Michelangelo’s David play leading roles in Pavel Schmidt’s actions. In matching montages of this dream pair from the history of art – blown apart and put together, entangled with red and white wine tubing – he turns their marriage into pictorial happenings. Schmidt assembled the prototype for this jigsaw puzzle edition in 2001 out of two ‘Venus’ and ‘David’ puzzles. The multiple was published for the exhibition ‘p.s. Pavel Schmidt’ at the Museum Tinguely, Basel (2008).
