Understanding works of art by touching them is unfortunately prohibited in museums. As a cure for the repressed desire to touch as well as for the acquired fear of touching, Barbara Loomis created a product specially made for museum shops: the T-shirt with Braille application, “Do not touch the art”. If you depend on Braille you only find you can’t touch by touching. The sighted shop visitor might also encounter this paradox by reading the printed label.
