In the Sixties Timm Ulrichs pleads for art to be kept out of the galleries and museums, and sets an example. Invited to create a one-man show, he sterilises the exhibition rooms with disinfecting agents, puts down rat poison and seals the gallery. At the blocked-off entrance door there hangs the sign: ‘Betreten der Ausstellung verboten!’ (Do not enter the exhibition!) – Kabinett für aktuelle Kunst, Bremerhaven 1970. 1969 the prototype sign was produced as a two-colour screen print on aluminium (Sprengel Museum, Hanover). 2007 the big sign was released as Collector’s edition, followed by the postcard size museum’s shop edition in 2008.
